In this privacy policy there are references to 'we' or 'us' which is referring to Computer & Technology Solutions Ltd (CATS Limited), company number 05330459, registered office 3 Courtyard Buildings, Hawksworth Estate, Thorpe Lane, Guiseley, Leeds, West Yorkshire, LS20 8LG.

We may also refer to ‘you’ meaning you as a policyholder or third party involved in a claim, otherwise you as an instructing client.

Your privacy is respected by us and, therefore, we will only collect, store and process personal information, in accordance with the law and to fulfil our contractual obligations as technology claim experts to our insurance industry clients.

What information do we collect and why?

Information collected is either relating to a claim being pursued or related to a private purchase that has been instructed to us by you. This information will enable us to provide the various services detailed on our website. We also collect statistical data via google analytics that tells us how you navigate our website and provides us with your general location.

Information includes any personal details that are submitted via the website, by email, post or verbally. The type of data would include name, address, email, telephone numbers, reference numbers and any information given voluntarily to aid in the handling of a claim or private purchase.

Any information relating to your health that is relevant to the handling of your claim or private purchase will only be collected if consent has been given.

We may keep a record of communication with you, whether we are contacted by phone, email, through our website or otherwise, to help progress a claim or private purchase. Records of communication may also be kept for training, quality assurance and statistical purposes, as well as to improve our services.

By submitting your information to us and when using our web site, you consent to the collection, storage and processing of your personal information by us, in the manner set out in this policy.

Who do we collect information from?

We handle claims for technology, collecting information from policyholders, insurance companies, brokers, loss adjusters, suppliers and other third parties involved in a claim.

How do we collect the information?

Information is received via our website, email, post or verbally and will be stored electronically on our secure network and software systems.

How do we keep your data secure?

We have put in place appropriate security measures to prevent your personal information from being accidentally lost, used or accessed in an unauthorised way, altered or disclosed. In addition, we limit access to your personal information to those employees, agents, contractors and other third parties who have a business need to know. They will only process your personal information on our instructions and they are subject to a duty of confidentiality.

We will assess security arrangements of companies where information is transferred to, from time to time, ensuring they keep your information confidential and only used for the purposes for which it is provided.

Who do we share information with and will we share your information overseas?

We share your information with authorised employees and where applicable suppliers of CATS limited for the purposes of handling and processing your claim or private purchase.

  • Third parties involved in a claim
  • Worldpay – for processing of policy excesses, VAT payments, betterments and private purchases
  • Other people who contact us on your behalf, but only with your permission.

From time to time we may share information with carefully selected third parties within the European economic area (EEAs) who are members of the CATS authorised supply chain. Information may be transferred, stored and processed by them for the purposes of collection, assessment, replacement and installation, in relation to your claim or private purchase.

Your information may be transferred to, stored and processed outside the European Economic Area (EEA).   We will not transfer your information outside the EEA unless it is to a country which is considered to have equivalent data protection laws or we have taken all reasonable steps to ensure the firm has suitable standards in place to protect your information.

Unless required to by law, we would never share your personal information without the appropriate care and necessary safeguards being in place.

How long will we keep the information?

The information will be kept as long as is useful, necessary and required in law. We would generally keep your information for up to 6 years, for our contractual obligations and regulatory compliance.

Do we use any of your information for marketing purposes / Opting in?

If you are a policyholder, we have no reason to use your information to send you marketing except to request your feedback on how your claim was handled, via email.

If you are an instructing client, we may send you periodic marketing information, via email, to inform you of our products, services, share feedback from customers and case studies. We will ask you, as a representative, if you would like to opt-in to receive this information. It remains your right to opt-out at any point should you no longer require this information. You can do this by clicking unsubscribe from any email marketing we send. 

Your Rights

You have several rights concerning the use of your personal information we use, these include the right to:

  • ask for access to and a copy of your personal information.
  • ask us to correct or delete your personal information.
  • ask us to restrict or object to the use of your personal information at any time.
  • where you've previously given us your permission to use your personal information, withdraw that permission. Where your permission is withdrawn, your previous consent will remain valid in respect of our use of your information prior to the date you withdrew it.

You will not have to pay a fee to access your personal information or to exercise any of your other rights. However, we may charge a reasonable fee if your request for access is unfounded or excessive.

Please note, in some cases even when you make a request concerning your personal information, we may not be required, or may not be able, to honour it, as this may result in us not being able to fulfil our contractual, legal and regulatory obligations.

We will collect any personal details you submit via our website.

Computer & Technology Solutions Ltd, its directors, employees, partners and other representatives will not be liable for damages arising out of or in connection with the use of this site in any way.
